Water Facts
Residents of La Plata County often question natural gas development and its relationship to ground water. Throughout the years, there have been and continue to be many tests and studies by a variety of experts and technicians to determine if action is warranted regarding ground water. Because of this scrutiny, changes in various aspects of natural gas operations, state regulations and policies continue to improve so that ground water is protected.
Public understanding of how safe groundwater and natural gas development coexist is important to the health, safety and welfare of our community. The Energy Council has assembled some basic information and sources of additional information so that the residents of La Plata County can more fully understand this important topic.
